Social Media Success Story from Washington State
It's one thing to love what you do, but it's another to read success stories from folks that needed a social media boost or two.
Not only have we been able to use the tools from your social media workshop to move our association’s website into the top ranking for google searches for Ellensburg, but those same social networking tools have proven invaluable to our local downtown revitalization program managers and volunteers as we try to save our statewide Main Street Program from being eliminated from this year’s state budget cuts.
We created a Facebook page for Supporting Main Street in Washington State, last week and using the techniques and tools from your October workshop, our group has attracted almost 500 supporters in the first week. While there are only 11 certified Main Street Programs in Washington State, more than 90 communities rely on this important state program for assistance in revitalizing their downtowns. Using our Facebook group, Twitter, and old fashioned email links, we’ve been able to rally the troops across the state around this important cause and build an advocacy base across the state that is working hard to convince our legislators to save this important program.
Much of our success in this effort is a direct result of the information, tools, and strategies developed as a result of attending your social media workshop last fall.
Thank you.
No, Tim. Thank YOU for sharing and keeping me posted on the success of the Main Street in Washington State program. I'll be checking in on the Facebook page often and just joined the group!
