I had the luck of attending a bit of The Cable Show earlier today. I made it with enough time to visit colleagues, check out our Motorola booth and play with Televation and SocialTV technologies (both are pretty awesome). I finished the work day at home – a quick stroll from McCormick Place.
This little neighborhood nugget of Chicago is heaven on days like this. With Lake Michigan on one side and Michigan Avenue on the other, the Prairie District is a treasure trove of history, families, dogs, small business owners and peaceful quiet. I made my way down Calumet Street and came across the Wheeler Mansion. I always like to take a minute and pause in front of historic buildings and wonder what life what like back in the late 19th century. That’s when I noticed the sign.
Google rented out the Wheeler Mansion to host GoogleTV Ads activities. Perhaps their team was staying at the mansion, currently a boutique hotel. Either way, I stood there in awe and wondered if Mr. Wheeler ever thought that his home would be host to an industry that transformed the way we communicate with one another.
