The Start of My Blogging Ways

An old written geography report from 1991. I managed to tie in a story about being a fashion editor while discovering Canadian fashion.

I still remember the travel pamphlets I needed to get from every province- by snail mail.

For those of you, like me, who have a limited amount of time to tinker with Google Wave, Gina Trapani just made things easier. Gina put together a comprehensive book, available free via PDF or $6 for a hard copy. This detailed guide is exactly what I need to keep on hand.

Kudos to Gina for piecing it all together!

Parisian Market Coming to Chicago!

French_market

Finally - it's here!

A 15,000 sq. foot Parisian market will be opening in the Ogilvie Transportation Center on December 3. I plan on spending many winter days with my little one perusing through the markets.

Social TV is Already Here...Who Will Improve It?

This AdAge article elaborates on a topic that already know is coming, but execution will be key. Folks like Ellen are linking the TV viewing experience with their social media tools, like Twitter, but we have a long way to go.

What if...

You could watch your favorite chef on the Food Network, they are prepping a recipe and you see a stream of Tweets about the show happening in real-time. Then again, this means that the cooking show be real-time...which brings us back to the exciting days of live television in the 50s. Throw in Milton Berle and I'm sold!

Chicago Senior Tech Execs Will Serve You Drinks: i.c. stars TechBash is Tomorrow

Tomorrow night, tech executives from around Chicago (Orbitz, Hewitt,Walgreens,to name a few) will be serving up cocktails at the i.c. stars yearly TechBash. This year, the party takes place at Rockit Bar & Grill.

Don't know what i.c. stars is?

Founded in 1999, i.c. stars is a non-profit organization that aims to create 1,000 community leaders by 2020. Every cycle of i.c. stars participants is highly competitive and they receive hands-on training in technology, including programming, database design, the whole nine yards.  Simply mission, sure, but it takes quite a large group of volunteers and donors to keep the program going.

I'm proud to have donated my time and keep in contact with i.c. stars alums over the years. Best of luck, Sandee!
