School is in Session

1-800-Flowers Launches Shopping Portal in Their Facebook Page

When I talk to clients and/or up and coming small businesses about Facebook pages, I sometimes use the term, 'mini web site'.  1-800-Flowers upped the Facebook ante with their new store, via the Shop! tab on their Facebook page.

Which retailers will follow suit?
Will I be able to buy a complete outfit from Gap's Facebook page - and get a special code for being a fan to boot?
Will consumers buy products via these new Facebook pages, then upload a video reviewing that product at the same time? Imagine the customer learnings a big company will receive from their Facebook pages.

What would you like to see happen with these new pages?

Scanaroo Digitizes Loyalty Cards to Your iPhone

One of the newest applications to hit the iPhone is Scanaroo. For $.99, you can remove all of your library, insurance, loyalty and membership cards from your wallet and into your iPhone. I plan on downloading this new app this week and will let you know of my findings.

Girls Go Geek Hits XBox LIVE

Finally. A show that highlights women + their inner geekdom. Veteran web strategist and podcaster, Amber MacArthur, is about to take geekdom to another cool level. Enter the show, 'Girls Go Geek'. Amber is the host of commandN and is the cohost of net@nite with Leo Laporte.

Amber is partnering up with XBox and the U.S. Air Force to put together a show that highlights women of all geek levels - gamers, developers, hackers (ok, maybe not hackers) and utilizing the XBox LIVE platform, to boot. First show hits the 'airwaves' the first week of August.

I'm liking this concept, but alas don't have an XBox to watch. Who wants to have a viewing party? I'll bring the pizza.

(disclosure: XBox is an Edelman client)
